STEVEN JIAWEI HAI
Welcome. I am Steven Hai, an Assistant Professor in Tech Innovations & Digital Entrepreneurship at Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Hub, Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. My research sheds light on the political economy of emerging technology, inclusive innovation, digital entrepreneurship, and sustainable development in China and global techno developmental states.
My work has appeared in the Journal of Small Business & Entrepreneurship, Global Policy Journal, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, The Conversation, and LSE IDEAS, among others.
My research received grants and awards from the Short-Term Scientific Mission (STSM) by China in Europe Research Network at the European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST), the Universities’ China Committee in London (UCCL) by the Great Britain China Centre, and teaching development grants from the University of Hong Kong.
I am an affiliate fellow at King’s Institute for Artificial Intelligence, King’s College London, and serve on the editorial advisor board for Artificial Intelligence in Education (AIIE). I was a visiting scholar at the Slovenian Migration Institute (SMI), the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts, and the Center for Applied Social and Economic Research (CASER), New York University Shanghai.
I obtained my PhD in Political Science at King's College London, focusing on the political economy of AI and blockchain tech-innovations in the global-China context. I studied at the School of Global Policy & Strategy, University of California, San Diego (UCSD) for an M.A. in International Political Economy. I read my B.A. in International Politics at the University of International Relations (UIR), Beijing. Prior to King's, I held academic positions at the University of Hong Kong.
I am the co-founder and policy director of Fatdoods NFT, an inclusive blockchain eco-community.
